The lovely Old Manse once housed writer Nathaniel Hawthorne, whose collection of short stories inspired by the residence, "Mosses from an Old Manse," accurately describes the place to this day. Fully restored, the Manse and its grounds feature an old-fashioned, 19th-century boat house; a peaceful pasture enclosed by 18th-century stone walls; and, on the interior, more than two centuries worth of family furnishings, including Hawthorne's writing desk. Located on the east side of Minute Man Park, the Manse neighbors the North Bridge, and offers a stunning view of the Concord River.
Grounds open year round, dawn until dusk; House open mid-Apr - Oct 31: Mon. - Sat. 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sun. 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
